COURSE OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this course the participant will:
- Research Updates: Describe United States trends in the induction of labor. Analyze the impact of elective cesarean section on maternity care, Explain the impact of birthing practices on breastfeeding.
- Rebozo: Demonstrate two uses of the Rebozo in Labor.
- Challenging Situations in Labor & Postpartum: Identify two strategies for working with challenging situation in Labor and list three benefits of postpartum birth plan.
- Postpartum Birth Plans: List three benefits of a postpartum birth plan.
- TENS Units: List two advantages and two disadvantages of the use of TENS during labor. Explain the Doulas use of the TENS unit with clients during labor and birth. Demonstrate the proper positioning of TENS nerve stimulation gel pads for relief of back pain in labor.
