DONA International Approved Birth Doula Workshop This program is designed to provide the participant with the skills necessary to become a birth doula or labor support professional. The three day program will enhance the participant's knowledge in the area of anatomy and physiology, terminology, the labor and birth process, postpartum, and the newborn. Participants will learn how to assist their clients in developing a birth plan, including methods of pain relief, comfort measures, and unexpected outcomes, such as cesarean birth.
The emotional and psychological aspects associated with labor and birth, along with appropriate cultural practices, will be discussed. Participants will learn, through role-play, how to assist clients with difficult labors and births and empower the woman and her partner to cope with complications. The birth doula's scope of practice and ethical standards will be discussed, as well as the criteria to become a certified birth doula through DONA (Doulas of North America). COURSE OBJECTIVES
Tuition is $400.00. A non-refundable course deposit of $100.00 is due at the time of registration. Remaining balance due 21 days prior to the first day of the workshop.
